A car windshield snow cover is worth it if you are scraping ice before work. It is not worth it if you want a heated windscreen. The cover does not melt anything. It stops the ice bonding to the glass, so you lift the frost off instead of chiselling it.
The short answer: buy the cover that reaches the wipers, tuck the side flaps inside the front doors, and leave it on overnight. In the morning the quilted panel peels off with the ice still on it. Free worldwide shipping and 30-day returns on the one we sell.
Which size to buy
We stock two sizes of the car windshield snow cover, both $19.99.
- 143 × 93 cm (width × height): the usual choice for a normal car. It covers the glass and the wipers if you seat it low.
- 147 × 100 cm (width × height; shown as “100 x 147 cm” in the size selector): the bigger of the two. Better if your glass is broad and you want to reach the A-pillars.
If you are unsure, measure the glass, not the whole bonnet. Width is the one that matters. A cover that stops short of the wipers leaves the blades frozen, which is the part that ruins the drive.
How it stays on
No magnets and no straps across the roof. The side panels tuck inside the closed front doors. That is enough in a normal overnight frost. In a proper storm, park nose-out of the wind if you can. It folds flat, so it lives in the boot between uses.
What it will not do
- It will not clear the side windows. Those still need a scraper or a minute of the heater.
- It will not stop snow on the roof sliding onto the glass when you pull it off. Brush the roof first.
- It is a frost and snow cover, not a sun shade. Use it from the first hard frost, then pack it away in spring.
Who it is for
Street parking, no garage, and a morning you would rather not spend with a scraper. If the car lives indoors, skip it. If you only need a night visor for glare, that is a different product on the windscreen and dash page.
