Questions before you buy
Will my phone actually stick to it?
If your phone has magnets in the back it will. That covers MagSafe iPhones and any Qi2 or magnetic case. If your phone has no magnets, you'll need a thin stick-on metal plate between phone and case. They cost very little and are sold everywhere. The mount holds metal, so make sure your phone has a magnet or plate before you buy.
Is it a cheaper alternative to a MagSafe car mount?
For holding the phone, yes. A MagSafe iPhone snaps onto it the same way. It doesn't charge the phone. If you want the phone to charge while it sits there, the 25W wireless charging mount does both.
Where does it mount?
On the dashboard, using a 3M adhesive gel pad on the base. Clean and dry the spot first and give it a firm press, and that's the whole install. It mounts on the dashboard, well away from the vents, so airflow stays clear and it won't wobble over bumps.
Does a thick case stop it working?
Magnet strength falls off fast with distance, so a very thick case weakens the hold noticeably. Under about 3 mm you'll be fine. Above that, use a case with its own alignment magnets rather than relying on a plate buried under the plastic.

- A clean, flat spot for the adhesive backing. Wipe the spot with alcohol first. Adhesive won’t hold on dusty or heavily textured plastic.
Your phone needs magnets: a MagSafe iPhone, a Qi2 phone or a magnetic case. Otherwise you'll need a thin stick-on metal plate, which isn't in the box.
