The lining is the part that matters — a genuine waterproof layer inside Oxford cloth, so coffee cups and food packaging don't soak through onto your carpet. The lid uses a rubber opening with a velcro seal, which means you can push rubbish in one-handed without lifting anything, but it still closes properly when you want it shut.
