Type your car and get the answer right away.
Give your car that factory ambient-light look in about 10 minutes. A glowing line of colour along your doors, or your front doors and dash, with the cable hidden in the trim so all you see is the light. It is not a fibre-optic star headliner, and nothing goes on the roof.
- No garage, no drilling. Plug it into the 12V socket and tuck the fibre into the panel seams with a bank card.
- Any colour, synced to your music. Full RGB, brightness and music sync from the free phone app.
- Four doors, or front doors plus dash. 4 m of fibre over 4 light lines, about 1 m each, cut to length. Want the dash and all four doors? The USB 64-colour fibre kit goes up to 8 m.
- Looks built in. No visible tape or wires, just a clean line of light.
Questions before you buy
USB or 12V: which kit should I get?
Get this one if you want it to plug into the 12V socket. It has 4 light units, one for each of its 4 light lines (4 m of fibre in total), and you set colour, brightness and music sync in the Bluetooth app. The 12V Bluetooth controller and the four light units are why it costs a little more than our USB kit. If you would rather plug into a USB port, or want longer runs, the USB 64-colour fibre kit comes in six sizes, up to 8 m.
How bright is it?
It's ambient light, like the lighting in premium cars. It looks best from dusk onwards and gives your cabin that glowing night-drive feel. You can turn the brightness up or down in the app.
How long does it take to fit?
About 10 minutes for most cars. Plug in, tuck the fibre into the seams, trim the ends. No tools needed.
Will it drain my battery?
Not if your socket switches off with the ignition (most do). If yours stays live, unplug it or switch it off in the app. It draws 9 W while it's on.
Is there a remote?
Everything's in the phone app: colour, brightness, speed and music sync.
Is it a good gift?
Yes, if the car has a 12V socket. There is nothing to wire, so they can fit it themselves in about 10 minutes. Returns are accepted within 30 days, opened or not; on a change of mind the buyer pays return postage. More ideas in our gifts for car lovers guide.
How does it compare with other ambient lighting?
A fibre line gives a thin, even line in the trim seams; LED strips light the floor; USB plug-ins glow from one spot. See best car ambient lighting kits 2026, or our lighting kits side by side for the specs.
Fit in your car
Fits almost every car, with one quick check.
What it needs
- A 12V socket (the cigarette-lighter socket). The plug stays in while it runs. Almost every car has one. Look in the centre console, under the armrest or in the boot.
- A seam in the dash or door trim to tuck the light line into. Slide a bank card into the seam along your dash or door. If it goes in a few millimetres, you’re set.
It lights the dash, doors and footwells, not the roof. For stars on the ceiling, look at the USB Galaxy Car Roof Star Projector.

Why we picked it
You tuck the fibre into the panel gap, so the cable disappears and all you see is a line of colour. That's why it looks like factory ambient lighting instead of an add-on.
Worth knowing
Check the fit first: if a bank card slides a few millimetres into your dash seam, you're set. It goes on the dash, doors and footwells, not the ceiling. It draws 9 W from the 12V socket. Most sockets switch off with the ignition; if yours stays live, unplug it or switch it off in the app.
