Type your car and get the answer right away.

Turn your car's ceiling into a red night sky in ten seconds. Plug it into a USB port, bend the neck toward the roof and the whole lining fills with stars. No wiring, no install and no trim to pull apart. This projects onto the lining. It is not a fibre-optic headliner, and nothing is threaded through the roof.

  • Nothing to fit. It runs off any USB port: car, power bank, laptop or a wall plug at 5V 2A.
  • Aims wherever you want. The 26 cm gooseneck and 360° head point the stars at the roof, whichever way your port faces. Fixed-head projectors can't do that.
  • A dense red starfield. It covers the whole roof lining, with breathing and flash modes. Long-press to switch.
  • Moves with you. At 88 g it lives in the glovebox and goes from car to car, or onto a bedroom ceiling.

Questions before you buy
What colour are the stars?

Red. It comes in one colour only.

Do I have to install anything?

No. Plug it into any USB port and it's on. There's no wiring, no adhesive and no trim to pull apart.

What if my USB port points the wrong way?

The head sits on a 26 cm gooseneck and turns through 360°, so you can point the stars at the roof whichever way the port faces.

How bright is it?

It's made for the dark. From dusk onwards the starfield covers the roof; in daylight you'll barely see it. Darker roof linings show the stars best.

Will it drain my battery?

Most car USB ports switch off with the ignition, so it goes off when the car does. If your port stays live, unplug it when you leave the car.

Is this the same as a fibre optic headliner?

No. A real fibre optic headliner threads hundreds of strands through the roof lining. It looks better up close, but it costs four figures to have fitted and means taking the lining down past the curtain airbags. We don't sell those. This one projects the stars onto the lining, so nothing gets pierced or removed. Projector versus headliner is the comparison. The headliner guide explains the full job if that's what you're after.

Can I light the dash and doors too?

This one is for the ceiling. For a glowing line along the dash, doors and footwells, pair it with our fibre optic ambient kit.

Is it a good gift?

It is an easy one: $17.99, nothing to fit, and it works from any USB port, in the car or on a bedroom ceiling. More ideas in our gifts for car lovers 2026 guide. If you want a line of light on the dash as well, see best car ambient lighting kits 2026.

Fit in your car

Fits almost every car, with one quick check.

What it needs

  • A USB port to plug into. No USB port, or only the small USB-C kind? A 12V USB charger or a USB-C adapter does the job.
  • A fabric roof lining to project onto. The stars show up on the fabric part of your ceiling. On a full glass roof they barely show.

It projects onto the roof lining, not the dash or doors. For a glowing line along the dash and doors, look at the Fiber Optic Ambient Light Kit.

Why we picked it

The head bends and turns through 360 degrees, so you can aim the stars where you want them, whichever way your USB port points.

Worth knowing

The stars are red only. It's a projector, so up close you can tell the stars are projected light; from the driver's seat at night, most people can't. It's made for the dark and barely shows in daylight. Most car USB ports switch off with the ignition; if yours stays live, unplug it when you leave the car.
